On May 25, Srdjan Petrovich, President of STI, spoke at the Forum “Construction Management in Russia”.
The event was organized by the engineering company SMART ENGINEERS. The focus of the discussion was directed to the role and place of the customer and the institution of an independent technical customer in the management of an investment and construction project (ICP).
Srdjan Petrovic shared his opinion on how to build a trusting relationship with a contractor in the face of uncertainty.
Main points of the speech:
- The contractor and the customer must agree in advance on the rules of the game, set the walrus. But the customer should not go into the agreed budget and work plan of the contractor and impose his partners so as not to spoil the quality of work.
- The technical customer must be a link between the customer and the contractor, a kind of independent judge. For his work, he must be paid adequately so that he does not have a reason to seek other income in the project.
- A contract between two conscientious persons can be drawn up on three pages, but if one of the parties does not behave in good faith, then no contract can save them.
